Types of Workplace Injuries

Workplace injuries can be caused by a variety of factors, including environmental conditions, repetitive strain injuries (RSIs), and manual handling.

RSIs account for a significant number of workplace injuries. They can be caused by repetitive movements or tasks that are often done in an office, factory or warehouse setting, such as typing on a computer keyboard or lifting boxes above your head. RSIs usually impact the upper limbs and back, and they often result in long periods away from work.

Manual handling injuries account for more than half of all Muscular System Injuries (MSI). These types of injuries typically occur when someone is lifting or carrying a heavy object. Upper limb and back injuries are the most common MSIs. The manufacturing industry has the highest fatality rate out of any industry in Australia. Many of these injuries are caused by moving parts of machinery, which can result in amputations or other serious injuries.

Making a Claim for a Work-Related or Workplace Injury

If you have been injured at work, there are a few things you need to do to make a claim. You may be entitled to weekly payments for time lost from work, as well as medical expenses related to your injury.

There are different types of claims that you may be able to make, depending on the type of injury you have sustained. If your injury requires more than 52 weeks off work, then you may be able to access superannuation and permanent disability benefits. In addition, if your injury prevents you from returning to your pre-injury job, you may be able to receive weekly payments based on your pre-injury average weekly earnings.

To start the process of making a claim, you will need to fill out a Worker’s Injury Claim Form. You can find this form on the WorkSafe website or by contacting WorkSafe Victoria. Once completed, hand the form to your employer or send the form back to WorkSafe Victoria.

If you are only claiming for medical and like expenses, then you do not require a Certificate of Capacity. However, if you wish to claim for income lost due to your injury, then you must obtain a Certificate of Capacity from your doctor.

Keep in mind that you should seek medical treatment before your claim is accepted by your agent. This will ensure that you receive the best possible care for your injury.

Questions To Ask Any Compensation Lawyer

When it comes to choosing the best law firm for your personal injury case, it can be a daunting task. You want to make sure you are asking the right questions and that you’re getting the most accurate information possible.

Here are some questions you should ask any lawyer before making your decision:

  1. How much experience do you have with cases like mine?
  2. Have you won cases like mine before?
  3. What is your plan of action for my specific case?
  4. Do you know what you’re talking about when it comes to compensation law?
  5. Can I afford to hire you?
  6. Will I need to take time off work while my case is pending? If so, how much will that cost me?
  7. Will my company pay for my legal representation during this case?
  8. How long will the entire process take from start to finish?
  9. What is your “No Win No Fee” policy?
